SOME OF THE IMPORTANT FEATURES
Computer Aided Checking System
We use the most modern structural steel checking system available in the world today.
Software checking combined with a staff of excellent experienced checkers make certain that the model and drawings are perfect.
We do not rely solely on the diligence of checkers, but we have a system and software that point out potential errors to the checkers. The checkers will use this information to examine the design drawings and determine what action/correction needs to be taken. This technology saves a tremendous amount of time and expense and empowers the checkers allowing them to acheive perfect results. The checkers love the software and method because at the end of the day they know the finished project is complete and accurate, the structural checkers do not have to worry about something being missed.
In order to perform accurate, diligent checking we must use the most modern methods possible in creating our models. Accurate fast modelling is the reason we have the budget and time to check our models and drawings properly. Technology and automation is used where ever possible to increase accuracy, reduce errors and reduce time and cost.
It is very unusual for us to receive a phone call from a fabricator with questions about shop drawings or E drawings. Technology and experience make the difference.
Beyond our own checking we contract with RFI CHECKING SERVICES of Tacoma Washington who provide independent checking of each project.
RFI Checking has software that not only completes checking with a minimum of man hours, but is completely thorough. No shortcuts are taken by RFI Checking. The software that they use can find a difference/mistake in the model in minutes. In a normal project there are hundreds of potential errors and it takes a lot of work from both our team and RFI Checking to make certain that both models are completely accurate.
The accuracy of the project is not dependent upon the skill or ability of a good steel detailing checker. Accuracy is assured with a method and system that works. The fabricator will receive a project that they can trust.
RFI Checking Services
RFI Checking Services is North Americans Leading Structural Checking Service. The only work they perform is checking structural steel models and drawings for companies all over North America. Their methods and software take the risk out of the structural steel industry.
If any errors are discovered then RFI Checking project managers will work with our team leaders to find out why there are issues and the design drawings are referred to and corrections are made to our model and RFI Checking will recheck. After the column and beam locations are exactly the same in each model and are accurate to the design drawings then checking continues to the connection parts and stiffeners and small parts. Every part is compared for similarities and differences. RFI Checking does not take shortcuts. This is the only work they do. The work of checking every small part is very time consuming and RFI Checking has software that allows them to do this checking quickly. Structural Steel Checking software is the latest advancement in the structural steel industry.
It is very important to work with an independent checking business who have project accuracy as their only focus. RFI has the software, methods, staff and time to check models and drawings properly.
Drawings Checking
We work with Integrity Applications Development of Tacoma Washington who design custom programming applications that perform a lot of repetitive checking we need with pdf drawings. This software saves our experienced checkers a lot of time and allows them to focus their checking attention making certain that the drawings communicate complete information to the shop worker and erector. It is important that we provide carefully checked models and drawings to RFI Checking.
3D Laser Scanning
We have the equipment and software to provide 3D Laser Scanning of existing and new structure.
3D laser scanning creating very clear 3D images that can be accurately and quickly measured is very useful in the construction industry. The 3D laser scanners produce point cloud images and files that can be measured and also exported as BIM models or imported into structural steel or engineering and architectural software such as Tekla or Revit.
The skill required goes beyond simply knowing how to operate the laser scanners. Knowing the needs of the structural project and knowing the types of measurements that will be required for steel structure is very important.
